Hello. My name is Sam Kumiko Sheridan.
I was born on a snowy February afternoon (pisces) at St Vincent’s Hospital (rip) in NYC. Growing up, I was on a Roller Derby team and played in a few bands. After years of writing in my diary, I began writing with my guitar and singing songs. I eventually found solace in the world of film. It was through film that I discovered how powerful a story could be + how much it could impact your day or life.
I love it when a line describes exactly the way you feel. Or when you walk away from a book feeling reborn. I love to write and tell stories because it is the way I know how to connect with people the best. I love to make them feel something too.
I studied directing at the National Film and Television School in England while completing a degree in Film/TV at NYU Tisch School of the Arts, where I recently graduated. I focused on writing and directing during my time there, telling stories ranging from Skateboarding Culture in Japan to Teen Pregnancy in NYC. I have since worked on Emmy Award winning television shows and feature films with various large-scale production companies (A24, Apple TV, MAX, Netflix, Prime).
This is my favorite movie. This is my favorite animal. I am currently based in NYC, born and raised. I am half-Japanese and work in both languages. Nowadays, I still enjoy writing in my diary, taking photographs on my Olympus, roller skating when I can, and continuing to work on my stories.
I am always looking for new and unique opportunities to utilize my skills.
Thank you so much for listening. I am eager to start my next chapter.
