Hello. My name is Sam Kumiko Sheridan. I am currently based in NYC, born and raised.

I was born on a snowy February afternoon at St Vincent’s Hospital. I am half-Japanese and work in both languages. This is my favorite movie. This is my favorite animal. I enjoy writing, taking photographs on my Olympus, and telling stories.

I studied directing at the National Film and Television School in England while completing a degree in Film/TV at NYU Tisch School of the Arts, where I recently graduated.

I focused on writing and directing during my time there, telling stories ranging from Skateboarding Culture in Japan to Teen Pregnancy in NYC.

My debut short film, UME: Or the Will to Fly Blind, premiered and won the Audience Award at the 47th Asian American International Film Festival and the NEXT STEP Award from NYU Tisch's Kanbar Institute of Film and Television. The film was subsequently acquired for streaming distribution and is currently available on SundanceNow and AMC+.

I have since worked in various departments on Emmy Award–winning television and feature films with A24, Apple TV, HBO MAX, Netflix, and Prime. I am always seeking new opportunities as I begin my next chapter.
